Chicken and Dressing Casserole

This Chicken and Dressing Casserole is packed with flavor and nutrients, and no one will ever guess that it’s good for them, it’s full of flavor, and the chicken is so tender it just melts in your mouth. The dressing is crispy and delicious, and the whole dish comes together perfectly.
INGREDIENTS:
4 C. Cornbread crumbled
4 C. Chicken shredded
1 C. Onion chopped
⅓ C. Celery chopped
2 Tbsp. Butter unsalted
1 Can cream of onion soup
1 Tsp. Poultry seasoning
½ tsp. Dried sage
1 ½ C. Chicken broth
Salt and pepper to taste
For the gravy:
¼ C. Butter unsalted
¼ C. All-purpose flour
2 C. Chicken broth
¼ C. Heavy whipping cream
Salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Add the butter, onions, and celery to a skillet and saute until the vegetables have begun to soften.
Place the cornbread, chicken, vegetable mixture, poultry seasoning, sage, soup, and chicken broth into a large mixing bowl along with salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine.
Spread the mixture into a well-greased 9×13 baking dish and bake for 45 minutes.
Add the flour and ¼ cup butter to a skillet over medium heat and sir to combine. Saute for 1-2 minutes stirring often.
Whisk in the chicken broth and add salt and pepper to taste. Continue to saute until the mixture has thickened to a gravy consistency.
Stir in the heavy whipping cream.
Pour the gravy over the casserole and serve.
