White Garlic Pizza Sauce

INGREDIENTS:

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic , minced

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon dried oregano

1 cup whole milk (Optional: Substitute with 2% or almond milk for a lighter option)

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

DIRECTIONS:

Step 1: Melt the Butter 🧈

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until fully liquefied.

Step 2: Sauté the Garlic 🧄

Add the minced garlic to the melted butter. Cook for about 30 seconds , stirring constantly, until fragrant but not browned. Be careful not to burn the garlic, as it can turn bitter.

 

Step 3: Whisk in the Flour 🌾

Sprinkle in the flour , black pepper , salt , and dried oregano . Whisk continuously to form a smooth paste (roux).

Cook the roux for 1–2 minutes , stirring frequently, to eliminate the raw flour taste.

Step 4: Add the Milk Slowly 🥛

Gradually pour in the milk , whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Continue whisking until the mixture thickens and becomes smooth, which should take about 3–5 minutes . The sauce should coat the back of a spoon when ready.

Step 5: Finish with Cheese 🧀

Remove the pan from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until completely melted and the sauce is creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
