Tortilla Wraps with Ground Beef

INGREDIENTS:

Serves 4–6

For the Ground Beef Filling:

1 lb ground beef (or turkey/chicken for a lighter option)

1 small onion , finely chopped

2 cloves garlic , minced

1 packet taco seasoning (store-bought or homemade—see below for DIY option)

1/2 cup water (to mix with taco seasoning)

Salt and pepper , to taste

For the Wraps:

8–10 large flour or corn tortillas

Optional Toppings :

Shredded lettuce

Diced tomatoes

Shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese

Sliced avocado or guacamole

Sour cream or Greek yogurt

Salsa or hot sauce

Fresh cilantro, chopped

Optional Homemade Taco Seasoning:

1 tbsp chili powder

1 tsp cumin

1 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

DIRECTIONS:

Step 1: Cook the Ground Beef

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, and cook until browned and no longer pink (about 6–8 minutes ).

Stir in the chopped onion and garlic, cooking for an additional 2–3 minutes , until softened.

Sprinkle the taco seasoning (homemade or store-bought) over the beef mixture, then add the water. Stir well to combine and let simmer for 3–5 minutes , allowing the flavors to meld.

Step 2: Warm the Tortillas

Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds per side , or wrap them in foil and heat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5–10 minutes. You can also microwave them for 20–30 seconds , wrapped in a damp paper towel, to keep them soft.

Step 3: Assemble the Wraps

Lay out a tortilla and spoon a generous portion of the ground beef mixture onto the center.

Add your favorite toppings—shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheese, avocado, sour cream, salsa, or cilantro.

Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling, then roll it up tightly into a wrap.

Step 4: Serve

Serve the wraps whole or slice them in half diagonally for easier handling. Add extra salsa, sour cream, or guacamole on the side for dipping.
