Southern Style Cabbage Beef Bake
A hearty and comforting casserole that brings together ground beef, tender cabbage, tomatoes, and savory seasonings, all baked under a bubbly cheddar cheese topping. It’s an easy Southern-style dinner that feels like a warm hug.
INGREDIENTS:
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion chopped
2 cloves garlic minced
1 medium head of cabbage chopped
1 can diced tomatoes 14.5 ounces, undrained
1 cup beef broth
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent.
Stir in the chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes, beef broth, salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme. Mix well.
Transfer the mixture to a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
Remove the foil, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top, and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
