Easy Christmas Gumdrop Nougat Candy

2 cups white chocolate chips (or chopped white chocolate)
2 cups mini marshmallows
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
1 1/2 cups small gumdrops, chopped (avoid sugar-coated varieties for better texture)
DIRECTIONS:
Step 1: Prepare the Pan
Line an 8×8-inch square pan with parchment paper, leaving enough overhang to lift the candy out later.
Lightly grease the parchment paper for easy removal.
Step 2: Melt the Base
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the white chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, butter, and salt.
Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until fully melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat, as white chocolate can burn easily.
Step 3: Add the Gumdrops
Allow the melted mixture to cool slightly (about 2–3 minutes) to prevent the gumdrops from melting.
Fold in the chopped gumdrops, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the nougat.
Step 4: Spread and Set
Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.
Press gently to ensure the mixture is smooth and level.
Step 5: Chill
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the candy is firm enough to slice.
Step 6: Slice and Serve
Use the parchment paper overhang to lift the nougat out of the pan.
Slice into small squares or rectangles with a sharp knife.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or refrigerate for longer storage.
