INGREDIENTS:
3-4 lbs (1.4-1.8 kg) beef brisket
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp smoked paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tbsp olive oil
1 cup (240ml) beef broth
1/2 cup (120ml) barbecue sauce
1/4 cup (60ml) Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 large onion, sliced
3 garlic cloves, minced
DIRECTIONS:
Season the Brisket:
Combine the salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder in a small bowl. Rub this mixture all over the brisket.
Sear the Brisket (Optional but Recommended):
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on both sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Prepare the Crockpot:
Place the sliced onions and minced garlic at the bottom of the crockpot.
Mix the Sauce:
In a bowl, whisk together the beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard. Pour the mixture over the onions in the crockpot.
Cook the Brisket:
Place the brisket on top of the onions and sauce. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-5 hours, until the brisket is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.
Rest and Serve:
Remove the brisket from the crockpot and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing against the grain. Serve with the sauce from the crockpot spooned over the top.
