Crispy Fried Shrimp

Crispy Fried Shrimp

INGREDIENTS:

10 oz Argentine red shrimp
1/3 cup mustard
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/3 cup red hot sauce
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons Creole seasoning
1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 large eggs

DIRECTIONS:

Prepare Shrimp: Peel and devein the Argentine red shrimp if necessary. Rinse them under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
Marinate Shrimp: In a mixing bowl, combine the mustard, cornstarch, and red hot sauce. Add the shrimp to the mixture, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for about 15-20 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Prepare Breading Station: In separate shallow dishes, prepare your breading station. In one dish, combine the all-purpose flour, Creole seasoning, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, and ground black pepper. In another dish, beat the eggs.
Bread Shrimp: Take each marinated shrimp and dip it into the seasoned flour mixture, coating it evenly. Then, dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the shrimp once again in the seasoned flour mixture.
Fry Shrimp: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove them from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Serve: Once all the shrimp are fried and drained, transfer them to a serving platter. Serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as cocktail sauce or tartar sauce.
