2 large onions sliced into 1/4-inch rings
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour divided
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 cup beer lager or pale ale
vegetable oil for frying
