Best Homemade Bread
INGREDIENTS:
4 cups all-purpose flour (can substitute some with whole wheat flour)
1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter)
DIRECTIONS:
Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Make the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
Add the yeast mixture and olive oil (or melted butter) to the dry ingredients.
Stir until a dough forms, then transfer it to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let the Dough Rise:
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size …
